The AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain block is a reproduction of the now famous West Germany Sticker German Floyd Rose bridge sustain block. These tremolos were the first run of German made Floyd Rose bridges.

Ours is an exact clone. It’s an 100% exact duplication in regards to size, girth, height, width and feel as the sustain block used on the first Floyd Rose “Original” tremolo released in 1983. The AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain is made of steel. Collectors of vintage Floyd Rose associate these with Mr. Van Halen and Kramer.

With this AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain block you gain, you gain and you gain again. Our precisely machined blocks are the best sustains available in the world. The AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain is only challenged by are our full line of AXN Sustain blocks.

The AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain has virtually the same improvements as our AXN Model-84 Sustain steel big block but in a smaller package. Nothing exceeds like excess tone control and EQ!

With our standard size AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain your improvements in resonance and sustain are far better than any of the common aftermarket blocks. Yet, our AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain is a standard size non-big block.

Introduced into our AXN 2021 line of big blocks this sustain block matches a standard Floyd Rose “Original” size sustain block.

This fits perfectly into many guitars with a locking tremolo that do not have the room for a giant size block. Of course ours is a perfect fit for every guitar with a Floyd Rose whether it came with a factory big block or not.

More so, the AXN 1983 Vintage Sustain is a traditional size sustain block that more readily installs into guitars that did not have a big block installed from the factory. No retrofit or modifications needed whatsoever. Its a drop in replacement!

My fascination started in the early 1980s and I never stopped buying and selling these Floyd Rose prototypes. I eventually started using the prototypes in my own metallurgical studies.

I found there are some unique features in the original prototypes. It appears that there is a real mojo in some of those early bridges. The vintage metal work and choice of alloys does lend itself to documentable gains in tone and resonance.

That said, it is not really magic… This all has to do with the handmade nature of the original Floyd Rose Prototypes. It also has everything to do with the metal alloys used and the application of real skilled machine work.”
