AXN Girls Girls Girls Prototype Guitar

AXN Guitars has launched a new body style. Sticking with traditional lines and mixing it with modern technology and appointments AXN’s Johnny DiFatta has this new guitar in hand.

“ My life is full of guitars. Its all guitars all day around here”

My life as a luthier is semi-demanding That said, Its not like I’m a cardiologist or a lawyer or a finance guy where it can be a life or death situation that carries a lot of drama and emotional discourse. For career many of us have important responsibilities. I also consider the art of creating the perfect Rock guitar an upmost priority in my line of work.

The AXN Guitars business has evolved and lately I’m finding that research and development takes a majority of any one day. Any one minute at the AXN shop i could be putting frets on a neck or even carving a shape into a belly cut on an AXN Superstar. Yet, more often than not lately I’m going over details and researching my next or even my current models.

Of course many of you see me out promoting and visiting with AXN artists at a festival or local gig to promote the AXN brand. Today I reached a destination in my journey. This new design. It has more packed into it that anyone can see just in pictures or video. For this post i chose to discuss this AXN prototype that I will use myself for a just while in a live environment. After that it will be a run of guitars.

In brief, I started with my hardtail platform and fully redesigned an AXN guitar using traditional lines. The first thing i considered was the overall weight and balance of the guitar keeping in mind the contours of the body and the way it fits when standing and playing and running around on stage.

Initially considering a lightweight body wood I inevitably went with Korina/MapleTop ( black limba with a maple top ). There are two reasons for this choice of wood in this prototype… # 1 resonance #2… I wanted to reveal any balance issues, neck dive, modulation when playing lead in the upper registrar and also how the a guitar with a couple extra pounds moves with you when your playing cowboy chords at the first fret and standing.

All the other tried and true appointments and specifications match that of my other AXN Models. Included is the AXN standard 15” flat fretboard radius and D6000 jumbo frets. The biggest frets available for RockNRoll. Of course, its a single humbucker AXN guitar with a single volume knob and a treble bleed. For this one I used a custom BareKnuckle Holy Diver pickup that I love. My favorite AXN reverse headstock with the great Gotoh Magnum locking tuners paired with my AXN machined in USA hardtail bridge!

So in conclusion I’m excited to have this guitar alive and running. I’m also happy that i’m able to show to ya’ll. I’ve got plans to have it out and play maybe three or four live shows with it over the house PA systems. Making 100% sure that I love this design and performance first... We are already tooling up for an official launch here in the shop.

After a couple of finish and paint decisions and the model will be a reality. Then I will sell it to one of you guys ( unless you buy it today lol ). After that is a short run of 3-5 guitars ( 5 hopefully ) before i launch it a this full scale AXN model of its own! Also more than likely I wont release it with this graphic unless its a custom order AXN.
