Authentic 1986 ESP Custom - Excellent Condition
Collectors Item

This is a vintage 1986 ESP Custom guitar. The artist George Lynch was pictured with this same model guitar on the cover of various magazines in the 1980s. This guitar is part of a limited run of ESP customs made for dealers only and distributed through ESPs sales channels and music stores that carried ESP guitars in the 1980s.

This guitar is in excellent condition with near-to-no playwear. The body is a one-piece quarter-sawn swamp ash body with 1/3 inch figured maple top also quarter-sawn. The neck is equivalent-to-or-better-than the best ESP Kamikaze necks that we have ever seen. The neck has a very thick quarter-sawn Indian rosewood fretboard. Unlike the GL models it has a square fretboard heel.  With the back of the neck made from quarter-sawn maple with very very light clearcoat giving the back of the neck an exquisite warm color. The neck specifications very closely matching those of 1986 ESP GL models yet with what appears to be noticeably higher quality woods and higher-end build quality all around.

The pickup routing and control setup is factory original and there have been no modifications to the factory HSH pickup body routing for the pickups and no changes to the factory setup for wiring and switches. There have been no modifications the the wood on this guitar. This description includes a confirmation from us that the only changes or modifications to this guitar have been a pickup change and a replacement coil tap switch.

The guitar came from ESP with the HSH pickup configuration which included from the ESP factory a single volume a 5 way switch and a factory coil tap. The wiring is cloth ESP wiring and is original to the guitar. That said the pickups are not original and installed in the guitar now are three unmarked pickups. The original ESP black color coil tap switch was replaced with a chrome color switch about a decade ago. The factory Floyd Rose tremolo and all the hardware is original to this guitar and can be dated as a 1986 Floyd Rose tremolo and R2 Floyd Rose Germany nut. Although unconfirmed, this tremolo setup may indicate it was originally sold at the famous ESP 48th Street Shop in New York USA.

The guitar is in excellent condition with No cracks in the wood. The is NO visible fretware to the original ESP frets. These frets matching all the Kamikaze guitars we've seen. Take note, there are many chips and dings, scratches and minor imperfections in the finish of this guitar. Some of the cosmetic imperfections have been touched up with matching paint or clear coat at some point in the past and their looks to be new dings and dents that are visible these dings being more recent than the ones that have been touched-up. We believe this guitar to have been owned by a student or a George Lynch fan who didn't log very many hours of practice to the guitar. Everything is in perfect working order and ready to play upon arrival to you.
