Burny Neal Schon LG-135NS 1981 - Black beauty
Description
Burny Neal Schon Signature 1981 Guitar
All right this is a 1981 Burny LG 135NS and NS stands for Neil Schon
This LG-135NS was manufactured by Tokai in 1981. Tokai manufactured these Burnys for Fernandes until late 1982. These Les Pauls were very famous for quality and sound. Neil Schon has been quoted as saying that he was approached by Fernandes and they spoke to him after a visit to the NAMM show which must’ve been in the year 1980 subsequently the signature models were produced and endorsed for Neil during his period in journey.
I acquired this guitar and it was missing hardware and it was modified as you can see. Someone enlarged the P90 neck pick up cavity to fit a humbucker. I knew the guitar was in perfect running condition as soon as the first time I touched it. I’ve owned many many Fernandes and I’ve kept this one in unplayed condition because of rarity. I was very pleasantly surprised when I went about restoring this guitar. I’ve owned so very many Fernandes that I understand the quality and many of the specifications used to manufacture such high-quality guitars. Collectors of Burny Fernandes also understand this level of attention by the manufacturer. And this Guitar delivers in every way possible.
I’ve been quoted in a video I just posted about this guitar on YouTube saying this may be one of the best guitars I’ve ever played or equal to … I would even go as far to say it’s one of the best guitars I’ve ever played And sounds just as good as the best in it’s own way.
As many know this model came with the first incarnation of a production line Floyd Rose locking tremolo system. This came from the factory with an FRT1 locking bridge and locking nut. The original bridge was missing so I replaced the tremolo on this Guitar has been replaced I had a great Fernandes Tremelo in stock and I installed that successfully into this guitar. This locking version Fernandez Tremelo is great in every way although is not original to this .
I am a luthier so I also went ahead and restored it as a single pick up rock ‘n’ roll guitar. Many of you know me as Johnny AXN And I have a certain gravitation towards rock ‘n’ roll guitars that simply rock. So I converted this guitar to a single humble Guitar. The toggle switch actually works I left it as is but obviously it’s an on off switch now and does the expected effect. A kill switch. I wired the pickup which is a Seymour Duncan directly to one of the existing volumes. And by the way that volume pot has a date code I was able to read that verify the month manufacture as month eight of 1981. So The volume and the tone pots date codes were successfully read and indicate a 1981 year of manufacture.there are no tone pots connected only a single volume. This Guitar is awesome in every way possible. When the owner receives this he will fully understand that it is a great great playing and sounding Guitar it may even be the best guitar that the new owner will ever have played. Yet it is Japan vintage a 1981 Burny Fernandes manufactured by ToKai in Japan. Nonetheless in my opinion the greatest value for a guitar of this type that can possibly be achieved.
